Inequitable access to healthcare in Africa: reconceptualising the “accountability for reasonableness framework” to reflect indigenous principles

Abstract Background The “Accountability for Reasonableness” (A4R) framework has been widely adopted in working towards equity health sub-Saharan Africa (SAA). Its suitability equitable policy hinges, at least part, on its considerable successes the United States and it being among most comprehensive ethical approaches addressing inequitable access to healthcare. Yet, conceptual match is yet be examined between A4R communal responsibility as a common fundamental ethic SAA. Methodology applications toward were conceptually by considering WHO’s “3-by-5” REACT projects their accounting pursuit of equity. Results Some challenges that these encountered may ascribed an incongruity underpinning principle communitarian dominant Africa. These are respectively fair equality opportunity derived from John Rawls’ theory, African principle. Conclusion A informed should enhance SAA contexts, generating impetus within alongside affordances A4R.
